Collaborating with national agencies, global legal networks, and watchdog coalitions to amplify impact and drive systemic reform
ULAN has been partnering with the COMELEC since 2012 when it began advocating for inclusive elections. In 2014, it conducted an accessibility audit among sample voting centers all over the country. In 2016, it developed a video and training materials which were adopted by the COMELEC for mainstreaming disability sensitivity among its personnel and Electoral Board members. In the 2016, 2019, 2022 national and local elections and the 2023 barangay and SK elections, it actively monitored the EAPPs for both senior and PWD voters.
ULAN is a member of the regional task force of the DENR on illegal logging as one of the NGO representatives.
ULAN is part of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, a network of lawyers, scientists and other advocates
collaborating for the environment.
ULAN is partnered with Media Defence to defend the rights of those who speak truth to power. Through this network, ULAN strengthens its capacity to offer legal assistance to independent media, grassroots advocates, and environmental defenders facing SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) suits and other legal challenges in the Philippines
ULAN currently sits as a council member of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) representing the Basic NGOs sector. Within these Basic Sectoral Councils, ULAN actively participates alongside other civil society and non-governmental organizations to ensure that human rights and environmental concerns from the grassroots level are directly integrated into national policy planning.
